Vampire Facelift

Thursday, September 30, 2010

When I was young, back when I was still in the Philippines... I have been hearing some old wives' tales about applying your first day of menstruation blood on your face to clean it off from oxidants and to prevent pimples from popping out. I actually believed it and in some cases when I had terrible acnes on my face, I did it.

And now... who would have known that somebody would have discovered that you could also use your own blood for a facelift?
They call this a vampire facelift.

According to vancouversun.com, this vampire facelift is a 20-minute procedure that uses components of the patient's own blood to plump up aging skin. There is indeed a scientific proof behind the use of blood for skin care.

Woaahhh... thw world is becoming weirder and weirder. LOL. Actually, it's not true. The practice has been there for quite some time now... even centuries old now... but the scientific proof was only revealed recently.

All these people do for the sake of beauty. Some would even use hgh pill to look younger, burn more fat and what not. You may go to this website, hgh-pills.org to see what else hgh can do. HGH is actually produced by our body... and turn it into a pill so it can easily be used.

It won't be a wonder if next time, we see a blood pill lurking around our beauty salons/counters.

Would you use it then, if it can really make you look younger?

I guess I will have to stick with the set until I finish them. I noticed that I am having a break out and worse, it's on my nose.

I really confirm that oil-based product is not the best product for me.

But I need to finish this one before going back to Clinique. What I had for Clinique was for oily skin. I might try the one for dry skin instead.

Anyways... let us see. I have an appointment for a follow up check up next week from Assata Clinic. Will have to ask the beauty specialist then.

Oh, by the way, while I was googling for the images of Beaubelle, I saw this image on page 10:

DIY Spa

Gone are the days when I painstakingly took the effort to gather the natural ingredients for a d-i-y spa. I would usually go to The Body Shop to get my essential oils. I'd go to an Indian shop to get the necessary spices and herbs for a spa treatment. Then I would spend time doing it for myself then for my husband.

It is such a relaxing routine, especially when I use lavender essential oil for my steam spa.

Gone are the days when I would just set the time to do it.

The good thing about d-i-y natural spa is that you only spend for the essential oil. I always wanted an authentic oil so I would specially go to The Body Shop to buy those. The rest of the ingredients can be found in the kitchen - that is if you cook.

It is of course much much cheaper this way, compared to going to a salon. You get to use the essential oils multiple times that's why you don't always buy it. In fact, you just use a few drops then combine it with carrier oil and voila! You are on your way to an healthier you, the cheaper way.

Everybody deserves to be pampered this way. Whatever you do. You might be into teaching jobs, construction jobs, medical jobs, nursing jobs, etc... you deserve to take a break and pamper yourself with either d-i-y spa treatment of salon treatment.

When you feel good, you look good. When you look good, you feel good. That's one of those things I believe.

Anti-oxidant Serum

Among the skin care set given to me after the facial treatment was Assata anti-oxidant serum. She, the beauty specialist, told me what it was for but I guess I had information overload that day, I forgot what the serum was for. So I did my assignment on doing a research for Assata beauty products.

I found that Assata anti-oxidant serum is to treat obvious skin redness and repair thinning skin while the rich blend of anti-oxidants provide protection against destructive free radicals which causes premature aging. And it's for night use only. I have actually been using it twice, once in my morning routine and one before bedtime routine. Good thing I discovered earlier. Like I said, the beautician might have told me and I must have forgotten.

Anyways, the benefits Gingko Biloba Extract improves blood circulation and acts as anti-oxidant while Aspalathus Linearis tightens skin and boost skin radiance.

For sensitive and hyper-sensitive skin with obvious skin redness.

It's always good to do research on the things you are going to delve into. It's the same when you want to buy gold coins. You would have to ask around first, weigh all the options, consider the value, etc.

And so when you're taking care of your skin, it's always good to ask around or research it on the internet.

Thanks, Clinique

Friday, September 17, 2010

I've been using Clinique 3-step skin care for almost 8 years now. And I have loved it except recently when I found my skin started to dry, itch, and eventually, became flaky. Yes, I loved it. 8 years ago (and beyond), I was suffering from a very oily skin on the T zone and dry on the rest of my face. That's a combination type, alright. And I also had a lot of scars from having too much acne during my teen years.

One day, I walked into a cosmetics department in Subang Parade, had a skin consultation, and heard a bit of information on how to take care of your skin. I walked out of that cosmetics department carrying a bag with a set of Clinique 3-step skin care.

I saw the difference after using Clinique a few times. So I sticked with it. Then when I ran out of it, I would usually go back to the same counter in Subang Parade. I would usually get samples of their new products. And I found myself using more of their products like foundation, concealer, face powder, lipstick, etc. I loved their products as they're suited for Asian skin in an Asian climate.

Like I said, I loved using Clinique until I used it too much. I have heard before that you had to change products everytime but tend to stick to the same product. I think it started a couple of weeks ago that I developed rashes on my eye shadow area. I kept using the product as I thought I was only allergic to certain foods I ate.

3 Days ago, hubby took me to a skin specialist in SS 15. Dr. Ranjiy looked at my face and told me that my skin has dried, I needed to stop whatever product I was using. He also gave me 2 creams (one for day time and one for night time) for my rashes.

We were walking towards our parked car when I saw a beauty clinic. We went up to inquire and I found myself wishing to have facial treatment for my skin. My husband urged me to have one and it's on him, he said. I got so excited that we booked my facial treatment the next day.

And so... yes, I went for facial treatment yesterday.

It was the last time I used my Clinique.

I won't say Clinique is not a good product. In fact, I recommend it to those who have oily skin like I did 8 years ago. it truly stopped my pimples from breaking out. But, like I said, I could have changed the product to "for dry skin" only. But I didn't.

But I am glad that it's not too late to change.

I am changing the product not because I don't like Clinique. I am going to change for convenience as my clinic is using different products. I think I would stick to theirs until it's time to change again.

Ohhhh... all of this for the sake of outward beauty. But really, we have to take care of our skin. Sometimes, honestly, when we look good, we feel good. I am not saying that outward appearance is more important. I believe that inner beauty is more important and if you have inner beauty, it radiates from within.

So with this, I say... Bye, Clinique. You served me well for the past 8 years.

Skin Specialist in Subang Jaya

I have posted recently that my skin on the face is developing some rashes and it's really getting dry and flaky. I looked at Subang Jaya forum and most of them recommended Dr. Ranjit at SS 15. My husband told me he went to see the same doctor many years ago for skin rashes and the medicine he prescribed was really effective. And so off we went the other day.

He's quite a cool doctor and he's very sharp. He prescribed a couple of creams to heal the rashes and some tablets for allergies.

The only setback was that there were many people lining up to see him. I guess it took an hour just to attend to me. But I guess it just goes to show that he's indeed a good skin specialist as there were many people lining up and trusting on him for their skin problems.

Highly recommended.

Understanding Body Fat Index

Thursday, September 16, 2010

It was my first time to measure my body fat index so I was excited to do it. Only to despair with the result:

Body Fat Index: 35.9% (Ideal Body Fat 18 - 27%)
Mass Body Fat: 21.5 kgs (Ideal Body Fat Mass: 10.8 - 16.1 kg)

Basin on my age and height, my daily energy requirement is 1268 Kcal.

My other concern is my blood pressure. It says 98/54 mmHg. Does that really cause a concern? Is it too low? What does it mean to have a lower low BP? What do I need to make it higher? I have been sleeping early these days. I wonder what else I should be doing to elevate my BP.

See... I have a very high body fat and a low blood pressure.

Anyways, I googled about my body fat index because it is way beyond my range. I kind of saw a formula and from there, I calculated how much pounds should I lose in order to be on the "safe side." My result, by the way, showed I was obese. And so, I need to lose 10#. Apparently, I don't need to lose all the fats because we need to have at least a small amounts of fats in our body. And also, I need to becareful in setting up my weight goal as it is unrealistic to set a very high weight loss goal.

The overall body weight comprises of lean body mass and fat body mass. The lean body mass consists of bones, muscle, organ tissue, blood and others. This one must be stable. What I need to get rid of is the extra fats...

The challenge is...

Can I do this?

I sure hope so.

DIY Hair Mask

My hair has been dry and brittle nowadays, blame it to too much sun and beach exposure. And probably, chemicals in the shampoo and conditioner contribute to the damage of my hair too. But I found this diy hair mask recipe online and I tried it. It's called egg and olive oil hair mask.

Mix one egg with two tablespoons of olive oil, massage onto hair and leave on for 3o minutes. Rinse with cool water. Shampoo then apply conditioner. Rinse hair well.

I did this with my girl. We had fun.

Now I can see the difference. My hair is shinier and smoother.

I am planning to do this once a week with my daughter.

How to Protect your Hair

We live in a tropical country where exposure to sun is unavoidable, no matter what. Our hair is usually the first thing that would be affected. We end up having a damaged hair due to the heat of the sun. But there's a way to minimize the damage.

We can take measures to protect our hair from the damaging heat of the sun or from any harmful habits. Here are ways I could come up with.

1. When going out, cover your hair with scarf. (I plead guilty because I don't do this)

2. Just run a hair brush/comb once when the hair is wet. And comb/brush again when the hair is dry. You will notice the difference here. Not only it protects your hair from falling off prematurely, it makes the hair shiny and smooth as well.

3. when drying your hair with towel, use one direction only. this will prevent split ends.

4. if you can avoid it, don't use hair dryer. I purposely gave my hair dryer away so I won't get tempted to use it often. The only glitch is that I have to wash my hair way before we go out... so I have time to dry my hair, the natural way. hair dryers can actually make your hair dry. so try to use it less.

Hair is women's crowning glory (of course nothing beats a good attitude). So we better take care of it as much as we can.

While Waiting

I just posted about hoping to sleep soon but I guess I am not ready to sleep yet. And so while waiting for sleepiness to come creep in, let me read alli reviews first. Reading can help us go to sleep sometimes. The danger though is that once we read some interesting stuff, it's hard to turn our eyes off from the article. So maybe, it would help to just get up, get on the bed, get a good soft pillow, close your eyes and count the sheep. :D

Looking for a Beauty Salon

I can't remember the last time I stepped into a beauty salon in Malaysia. One of the reasons why I stopped going was because it's so expensive to get beauty treatments here. I would usually wait until we go to Thailand to do those beauty treatments. We would usually drive to Thailand. Yes, we can, as long as we have car insurance and it's up to date. And I so love the service in Thailand. Anywhere you go, whether it's in a small salon or more professional ones, I get a 5-star treatment. It's cheap too.

But today, hubby and I drove around SS15 to see if I could do facial treatment. I am excited to do it coz like I said it's been a long time since I didn't pamper myself with beauty treatments outside the house. There was a time when I told my hubby that diy beauty treatments was enough for me. But recently, I've been seeing some rashes on my face and I thought it would be good to get a professional do my face. I guess going for a professional service once in a while is good enough.

Benefits of Getting Enough Sleep

I am going to post about benefits of getting enough sleep. The irony of all ironies is that I am still awake, at 4:00 in the morning. But of course, my post would be a reminder to myself so i hope to sleep right after i finish this one.

Benefits of getting enough sleep:

1. When you wake up in the morning, you'd feel refreshed and energized.
2. When you sleep, you burn 100 calories per hour. So it's good for losing weight.
3. When you get enough sleep, it's good to prevent early ageing and it's good for skin generally.

Of course, there are more benefits to getting enough sleep. And I need to follow my own prescription. It's just that I'd probably need a natural sleep aid so I can sleep soon and tight. I still feel so alert. Sleep, please come to me now. I need to get that beauty rest. An exciting thing waiting for me ahead tomorrow.

Without Prescription

Is there really phentermine without prescription available? I remember when I was taking an appetite suppressant pill, I could get the tabs from a smaller local pharmacy but couldn't get it from a bigger national drugstore. I really wish I remember what the name was. It was so effective for me as it truly suppressed my appetite for any food and drinks. That was the time when I had a 25-inch waistline. Wish to go back to that figure. But I guess I have to accept the fact that my tummy has been stretched to the max so it's hard to get back into that shape again. I can only wish though.

Skin Rashes

Monday, September 13, 2010

I have some kind of skin rashes appearing on my face. I guess it's time to see the skin doctor. Not sure exactly what's the reason for this. It might be some kind of allergy. But my skin is itching and it's only on the face area. Maybe it has to do with my cosmetics? Not too sure what. That's why I really need to see a skin specialist.

On the other note, I haven't gone back to my workout routine yet. I heard from one of my friends that you can actually get some workouts from wii with wii accessories. It's just funny because one of my friends posted on her facebook update that she's truly enjoying her golf game. And only to realize she's playing it on wii. LOL. So yeah, maybe I can do my workouts on wii too. LOL.

Want a Break

Monday, September 6, 2010

I am badly in need of a break. A real, long break away from everything and everybody. Guess I am just tired. As a mom and wife, I think it's fine to give myself a break, right? I guess I cannot take my husband's new roles and responsibilities now that his "presence" is required everytime. I wish there's one like orlando car rental here so I can just rent a car with a driver to take me where I wanna go. But honestly, I don't know where to go. All I know is I am in dire need of a break without breaking my savings.
