Strawberry Face Mask

This is one of the easiest masks to make, and is also a good way of using up any bruised or squashed strawberries that you may find at the bottom of a punnet. Because strawberries are slightly astringent, they will tighten the skin, close open pores and smooth out fine lines. Simply mash up two or three strawberries, lie down and spread them over your face. If you have dry skin, add 5ml (1 teaspoon) of creamy milk. Relax for 15 minutes before rinsing off the strawberry mask with lukewarm water.

Oatmeal Scrub

Oatmeal is both the oldest exfoliator and the best at sloughing off dead skin. Mix 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of coarse oatmeal with 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of honey and a little natural yoghurt to make a paste. Apply the paste to your face and neck - avoiding the delicate skin around the eyes - and then massage it in, using only your fingertips. Allow the paste to dry before rinsing it off.

Facial Saunas

Steaming your face over a steam bath opens the pores and encourages the skin to sweat out any impurities. To enjoy a facial sauna, add some lemon juice and mint leaves to a bowl of hot water, cover your head with towel so that it prevents the steam from escaping. Close your eyes and steam your face for 5 minutes if you have oily skin, or for 2 minutes if you have normal or dry skin, breathing in the delicious scent of the lemons and mint. When you time's up, splash your face with cold water and pat it dry.

Other herbs with special properties can also be added to the steaming water:

  • fennel - for remooving impurities
  • rosemary - for deep cleansing
  • lavender, rose petals, thyme, or camomile for gentle cleansing
  • sage for oily skin,
  • parsley for dry or sensitive skins
  • dandelion leaves for older or sallow skins
I used to add peppermint essential oils to the steaming water also. It is good if you have flu.

Applying Lipstick

Keep your lipstick on your lips. How?Apply your lipstick carefully. There is nothing worse than over applying lipstick and smearing in onto your teeth. To ensure you don't get lipstick stuck on your teeth, pop a finger into your mouth, close your lips over it, and pull it out. Any excess lipstick will stick to your finger and not to your teeth.

Causes of Weight Gain

There's an article in the web that caught my attention: Weight Gain is also Due to Overeating. Of course, it is a fact and people know it. Overeating can cause weight gain. But overeating is not the only cause of weight gain. There are just many factors and overeating is just one of them.

So how do we gain weight?

1. overeating

and

2. no exercise

Overeating means you take extra calories that is otherwise needed for your body's nourishment. If those calories are not needed, they may turn into fats, thus, making us gain more weight. One should be careful with one's diet. My son, as early as 4, has been taught about balanced diet. He came from school one day and talked about balanced diet which the teacher taught them on that day. So i asked him what balanced diet meant. He said, Mommy, that means you eat a lot of vegetables and fruits and less sweets. That was sweet. It's good that as early as he is now, he knows that he must be careful with what eats.

We all want to lose weight and that is another fact. However, cutting on food intake is not the only solution. We must do exercise as well. We must choose that kind of exercise that can tone our muscles.

Why? because if we lose those fats, and we don't tone our muscles, we would end up having shaggy body. I have learned this when I was preparing for my wedding. I cut back on food, did an exercise that could make me sweat, and did Pilates that could tone down those shaggy flesh.

So how do we lose weight? We can do so by having a balanced diet and a regular exercise.

I'm Back

Well, this blog is back. I have bought a domain for this blog and it hasn't expired yet. So I thought of just going ahead with this blog. It would be a waste if I just let it expire without using it. So I'm thinking if I can do better with this blog... i.e. post more updates and earn more from doing some reviews, then might as well continue. So here starts another chapter.
