How to Protect your Hair

We live in a tropical country where exposure to sun is unavoidable, no matter what. Our hair is usually the first thing that would be affected. We end up having a damaged hair due to the heat of the sun. But there's a way to minimize the damage.

We can take measures to protect our hair from the damaging heat of the sun or from any harmful habits. Here are ways I could come up with.

1. When going out, cover your hair with scarf. (I plead guilty because I don't do this)

2. Just run a hair brush/comb once when the hair is wet. And comb/brush again when the hair is dry. You will notice the difference here. Not only it protects your hair from falling off prematurely, it makes the hair shiny and smooth as well.

3. when drying your hair with towel, use one direction only. this will prevent split ends.

4. if you can avoid it, don't use hair dryer. I purposely gave my hair dryer away so I won't get tempted to use it often. The only glitch is that I have to wash my hair way before we go out... so I have time to dry my hair, the natural way. hair dryers can actually make your hair dry. so try to use it less.

Hair is women's crowning glory (of course nothing beats a good attitude). So we better take care of it as much as we can.

Susan Boyle - An Inspiration

Here comes a talent. A real talent. And people notice her. It's about time that we take notice of a real talent and not just because of physical appearances... but real talent as well. People at first were very cynical. Who was she. Was she another she-boom buy? A Joke? But alas! She's more than that. A real inspiration she is. A wake up call to everybody that there's no age limit when it comes to reaching for your dream. I am pretty sure she will make it. She's going to reach her dreams... inspite of where she came from, inspite of her looks, and to top it all, inspite of her age. She's 47!

Check out this youtube link to see what I mean. Embedding is prohibited so I can't show you here. Here's the link though:

How To Apply Perfume

Believe it or not, there is a right and wrong way to apply perfume. And we thought that we can just spray it all over! Some people would spray the perfume, cologne, eu de toilette all over their bodies because they think they would exude the scent more if they do that.

The thing is, you need to have a spray point. If you do, even if you don't spray much, it does stay longer and exudes more scent. Where are the spray points?

1. at the hollow of your throat

2. behind your ears

3. wrist

4. behind your knee

By spraying on just the spray point, you will smell better, the scent lasts longer, and you can save more.

Speaking of perfumes... what is your favorite scent? I love Banana Republic, Classic. It's hard to find that perfume in Malaysia because it is US based. Usually Malaysia would sell UK based products. So when Peter went to the US last year, he bought me Banana Republic perfume in which I only got to use after weaning my baby off from nursing.

Another tip is that you must finish the perfume within the year after opening it. They lose essence after one year, even they're not expired yet... which reminds me to replenish mine. But how? I can only get Banana Republic in the US.

Maybe use another perfume. I am so into Jasmine scent now. There's Jasmine perfume available at Marks and Spencer's. And there's a new range of Jasmine products at The Body Shop. I so wanted to buy... but I was out of budget. After my China trip, I will save so I can buy those. For now, it's my natural scent I'm wearing... which hubby prefers.

British India Is On Sale!

One of my favorite place to shop is at British India from where else... but Sunway Pyramid. I only buy clothes there when it is on sale. They have a very good quality clothes but the prices match the quality of the clothes as well... if you know what I mean.

When I and friend went to Sunway Pyramid, we checked out British India... and they have up to 70% off sale. Of course I went straight to the 70% off department. My friend actually didn't care about the sale and went straight to the normal price.

I got a top. But of course, I can't show you here. My camera's card reader is still missing that's why. Anyways... my hubby was dismayed I only bought one. He told me we're going there on Saturday. He wants to check it himself. He knows I have a very good control when it comes to shopping. So controlled I don't make sense. That's what he said. So he's going to take me there again and see what else I missed.

basic skin care

I really struggled last time when my skin had a lot of breakouts. Such painful years for me... you know, being insecure and all for having those big zits! Not only that, they were in certain places and they burst out like there's no other place on my face to breakout.

Those acnes left my skin scarred. It looked awful. Before I know all about skin care and all that, the skin of face became rough-looking with all those scars around. But after 6 years of conscious effort to fight acne and conscious effort of taking care of my skin, there is some kind of improvement. Thank God for clinique. Clinique is water-based so it's best for my skin type... and best for the environment I am at. If you are in a cold climate, it's not advisable to use water-based cosmetics. My skin now is a lot smoother compared to the last time. The scars are still a bit visible but when I apply foundation under my makeup, it's not really that visible. I know only surgeries can eliminate acne scars... but I don't think I can afford to do that as of now. For now, it's the basic skin care that I am doing:
