Today's Flowers

There's nothing like getting a bunch of flowers from a husband once a month. For seven years now, every month, my husband gives me a bunch of flowers. Everytime he does, I can't help but feel so beautiful inside. Well, sometimes, he forgets and when I sense that he does, I gently remind him. It's a win-win situation, right? Nobody gets hurt. Hehehe. My first entry for Today's flower. I got this last month from my husband.

I think this is a member of Chrysanthimum flowers family. Not so sure.

Does Your Makeup Match You?

From Grace Kelly to Penelope Cruz, classic beauties seem to have a knack for knowing what products to use and what features to enhance when it comes to makeup. And you are no exception.

You may try all the newest, most expensive products on the market, or maybe you are committed to tried-and-true staples that you've used for years. Either way, you know how to bring out your best with the materials you have. Your clean, polished look says that you are sophisticated, worldly, and always well prepared for life's curveballs, even if that includes cleaning a clumpy mascara brush or wiping lipstick from your teeth. Elegance, style, and grace, after all, are never out of fashion.

That Woman Is A Success...

I always find it fulfilling if I discovered something and be able to share it. Nothing more fulfilling than hearing your friends say... I tried it and it worked! Thank you! I have experienced tremendous blessings myself as I have learned to be a channel. You know, when you just open up your life and make it a channel where nothing stays... everything pours out... you'd know for sure that as you pour out things... sure enough you will be filled again and again. And sometimes, it just overflows. I understand for sure what God said in His word that "He loves a cheerful giver." Giving doesn't mean just finances or just with tangible things. It could be your talents, your skills, your ideas, knowledge and it could even be just a word of encouragement.

I always live by this quote from an unknown author:

That Woman Is A Success...
Who loves life And lives it to the fullest, who has DISCOVERED and SHARED the strengths and talentsthat are uniquely her own; Who puts her best into each taskand leaves each situation better than she found it; who seeks and finds that which is beautiful in all people... and all things; whose heart is full of love and warm with compassion; who has found joy in living and peace within herself.

Be Your Own Beautician

Nowadays going for beauty treatments is just right up to the neck when it comes to how much we pay for it. Going for spa alone costs like huge amount of money, well, it is in Malaysia. In Thailand it's not that much. I used to go to spas in Thailand everytime my husband and I visited the place. The most unforgettable and the best I had was the spa in Hatyai. It was so cheap in a very refreshing environment. Not all spas are cheap. And if we are spa lovers, we want a spa that offers quality result. We don't go for spa because it's cheap. We want good results! And sometimes going for quality spas can be very expensive. Well, for some, they can afford it even if they do it weekly. I couldn't. So I'm always on the look out for do-it-yourself spa. I found quite a lot from reading books, watching tv shows, and searching the internet. We, indeed, can be our own beautician!

This blog will definitely help us be our own beautician. So watch out for do-it-yourself (DIY) spa stuff coming our way. I have picked a bit of here and there and has been doing it for myself and for my husband too. My husband enjoys it too. So I'm going to share with you here. You too can be your own beautician.

Beauty is Skin Deep

A lot of people think that way. I disagree. I may have blogged about being beautiful physically is important but it's not the most important thing. Beauty is not skin deep. A real beauty has more attributes to her than the naked eye can see. There are just so many attributes that make a really beautiful woman.
  • The way you treat others - do you treat others fairly well? Or do you go by status quo? Sometimes it is so easy to give respect to others who have a high-paying job, career people, well established people and we find it challenging to communicate well with lowly people. If, by all means, you treat people equally, no matter the race, social status, etc... then you are truly a beautiful woman.
  • The way you exude confidence - there is a total difference between acting with confidence and acting with superiority complex. If you have self confidence, and you interact with people, it is very obvious. But when you have superiority complex, it is also obvious... which can turn people off. I know a lot of people that want to act confident but actually it's out of insecurities. There are two types of insecurity: feeling inferior and acting superior - to cover up insecurities. I've seen both. It's a total turn off. Not that I have enough confidence. I still lack a bit. But I'm working on it. (this is the purpose of this blog, actually).
  • Your mannerisms - there are too many to list down on different mannerisms people use. I have read a book "I Know What You're Thinking" and from there, they listed down different hand gestures, body languages to reflect what they're thinking. I have observed people on the way they talk after reading this book. Sometimes it chuckles me and my husband to death when we talk after meeting people. But of course, one main point is: we become very conscious of the body languages we're signaling.
  • Your body posture - when you slouch and talk it's very distracting.
  • The way you dress up - men sometimes get distracted when you reveal too much. So if you want to have a good conversation with people even in opposite sex, please dress up properly and modestly.
  • The way you put make up - we all strive to do a no-make up look. Lesser make up doesn't mean you will have a no-make up look. I have searched the internet about doing a no-make up look and guess what... to achieve a no-make up look, it takes more time and more make up to do so.
  • Fear of the Lord - in Proverbs 31:30, it says "Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain but the woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised."

Janet Speaks

We all try to be beautiful. Inside and outside. Men and women alike do. Show me a man that says he doesn't care about what his partner or spouse looks like as long as that person has a good heart. Show me one and I can tell you he is hypocrite. Men, no matter how spiritual or angel they are, they still want their partners to be beautiful physically. Of course, they want their wives to be beautiful spiritually also because it is also important that wives fear the Lord. And nobody can deny that every person wants a spiritually beautiful spouse. But of course, to be physically beautiful is also very important. We might say we don't care about our spouses' looks but deep within our hearts, we want our men to look presentable and women to look s3xy.

My husband might be one of those men who have a very strong faith in the Lord... but he cares about how his wife looks like. He likes it when I put my make up on and he's not shy to admit it. He doesn't tell me I look nice when I know I don't. Instead, he tells me nicely that maybe I want to change into something else that is better looking. Then I take the cue. I don't look nice. I like it. I like it when he's honest with me. At least I know what's nice and what's not so I can improve myself. I do the same thing with him. In our relationship, there's always room for improvement.

So what do we do? We observe other people. They way they dress, the way they carry themselves. We noticed that the more well-dressed a person is, the more that person is confident. We like watching shows about self improvements, what to wear, what not to wear... how to put make up, how to dress up, etc. I have learned a lot. I know I still have a lot of things to learn.

Thus, Janet Speaks. This will talk about beauty stuff, fashion stuff, etc. Not that we value more our physical beauty and not our spiritual area (I have other blog that talks more on spirituality if you prefer that)... but we just want to improve ourselves. Be more presentable. I hope you will enjoy your stay here. I am taking tips from the people I observe while walking on the streets, or walking in the malls... or from TV shows that I see... or even from celebrity themselves.

So hang in there. If you have some tips, you are very welcome to share with me too. I would be very willing to post it here. Thank you.

Having said all these, I still believe that "Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain; But the woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30
